Ackers Pit has now reopened to members to fish.
This productive little fishery is an oasis located in Stockton Heath. In 2007, the pit was drained for a desilting operation. As part of the project, which came at great expense to the club and the local parish council, the lake was re-shaped and many of the trees were felled to make the site more attractive and better managed.

Despite the desilting, Ackers is still a shallow fishery, but at least now we have more than 6" of water to fish in! Ackers was known as a prolific roach fishery, and the club has planned to reinstate similiar stocks to the original fish, with the exception of the carp. This is an excellent fishery for youngsters and is a safe and pleasant place to fish.
The lake has been stocked with roach, perch, bream, rudd, crucian carp and tench. Catching fish at Ackers is easy. Simple float tactics are best, and baits like maggots, casters, bread and corn all score well. Ledgering is not allowed.
Members must only fish from the pegs provided, and please take care to respect the wildlife and local residents, who enjoy walking around this popular location.
