Formerly known as Town Park Lake, this water is in the new Phoenix park development near Runcorn. This lake is a truly mixed fishery with carp, tench, bream, roach, perch, rudd, pike and eels present. The club has previously stocked the lake with around 100 carp, which seem to average around mid-doubles, and specimens have been caught to just under 30lbs. In March 2008, we added a few thousand roach and bream.
There are plenty of natural features and food, with reed beds and lily pads in abundance. Depths range from a couple of feet at the shallow end where (where there are two islands) to around 9 feet at the opposite end. All traditional fishing methods work, including float (lift method is excellent for tench in summer) pole or ledgering. Usual baits all score well - maggots, casters, sweetcorn, worms, luncheon meat, pellets or boilies.
Our dedicated local bailiff team check this water daily. They rake out the swims regularly, but it is always worth taking a weed rake yourself, as the small fringe pond lily is prolific here. Raking the swim before fishing is a good attractor for the tench too.
Park on the Phoenix Park car park (near the skate park) or on the Barge pub car park.
