Along this section, the canal follows the path of the A56 Chester Road, through the villages of Stockton Heath, Grappenhall and Thelwall.

There are various access points along this section. Most parking is in the side streets opposite the canal. Please park sensibly and do not block driveways.

There is one area where fishing is allowed from the 'off-side' of the canal, at Stockton Lane. This is a good place to fish, as there is a turning basin, plus the no through road behind is generally quiet.

Noted areas include: the long section of reeds opposite Denbury Avenue; Grappenhall village (pegs 576-589); and the moored boats at Cliffe Lane underbridge.
