This is a popular stretch of the canal at Thelwall, with good access.
At Cliffe Lane, parking is at the underbridge. There are boats moored on the far bank permenently, which provide a good fish-holding feature. Winter roach and pike fishing is good, and in summer, bream can shoal here, as well as odd resident carp.
There is a dedicated WAA-owned car park at Pickerings Bridge. A WAA gate key is needed. To the left of the bridge are some moored boats, again a good feature, and to the right, a long stand of reeds, which holds good numbers of roach, perch and skimmers.Tench may also be found at the reeds.
Additional parking at the underbridge at Barsbank Aqueduct, here there are some overhanging bushes on the far side that provide cover for bream, roach and odd chub and carp.
